Strait Brands Pty. Ltd., formerly The Tamar Distillery Pty. Ltd., was incorporated on January 2, 2004 with the intention of creating a premium quality Tasmanian fine food and beverage portfolio that would provide the basis for a successful stock market flotation. Founding shareholders provided initial funding and additional private investors were introduced in September 2004. To date, shareholders have contributed in excess of AU$2.2million in the planning and start-up phase.  The integrity of financial projections for the vodka business was verified by PKF, Melbourne. The projections forecast a $1million-$3.1m surplus in Year 3. Production is conducted at The Tamar Distillery, Beauty Point. The facility is beside two award-winning eco-tourism ventures that attract in excess of 50,000 visitors per annum. To build further on the brand marketing strengths of the business, two wholly-owned subsidiary companies have been formed - Strait Drinks P/L, to include the liquor manufacturing and sales operation, and Strait Fine Food P/L, which will run acquired food brand businesses and proposed contract processing and packaging operations.
